Providing clean drinking water to the thirsty communities
Sikom Peace will continue to work towards finding ways to provide clean drinking water to the thirsty communities of both the Pokot and Turkana tribes.
Though the available water is both salty and hot, with the right equipment and personnel, it could be made to provide water for drinking and irrigation.
Various individuals have worked on solutions for the desalination of the water and as Sikom Peace we would like to partner with any local, national, or international agency in the provision of water because everyone has the right to water and sanitation.
Water should be safe for drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene. In order to promote sound environmental management, it is essential to ensure that existing water sources such as springs are protected from livestock and latrines.
Sikom Peace also plans to train communities in water resource management and hygiene.
Also, plans are underway to get funds and construct toilets and dumpsites for the community.
